Lamisil Cream is formulated for effective treatment of athlete's foot (tinea pedis). It contains Terbinafine, a well-known antifungal agent. Terbinafine hydrochloride penetrates into the skin to reach the site of infection. It works by directly causing an allergic reaction, which leads to swelling of the face, lips, or throat, which leads to difficulty in breathing, and ultimately, cutaneous fungal infection (fungal Candida species). Terbinafine penetrates the lungs to the deep tissues of the lungs, where it exerts an action similar to that of benzoyl peroxide. It kills the fungus and reduces symptoms such as redness, itching, and skin rashes. Terbinafine is a non-benzoylating medication with a molecular weight between 500 and 1,200 Daltons and an absorption rate of more than 30% of the drug penetrates the deeper tissues of the lungs, where it exerts an action similar to that of aspirin. This action makes Lamisil effective in treating athlete's foot (tinea pedis). It contains Terbinafine hydrochloride, which penetrates the skin to the infected areas and provides coverage to the surrounding areas. Lamisil was initially developed to treat athlete’s foot and was initially approved for use by the FDA in 2014. The topical product was initially sold as a spray and was not included in the list of drugs marketed under the name “lamisil” by Johnson & Johnson. It is not available as an over-the-counter product and is not covered under the “no prescription” or “off-label” drugs sold under the name of Lamisil by Healthline. It is applied to the skin twice a day with a scalpel and the Lamisil Spray is available in the market at a dose of 1g daily for 1 week, or as a cream and spray and available as a 1g tube by Healthline. It is not recommended for children under the age of 18 years in children who: are allergic to terbinafine or other anti-fungal medicine, or any of the other three categories of drugs used to treat fungal infections.
Lamisil should not be used in children under 12 years of age. Ensure the safety and efficacy of the drug. If the drug can cause nausea, vomiting, stomach upset or diarrhoea, seek medical help immediately, as these may be signs of a more serious fungal infection. If a child is under 12 years of age or allergic to terbinafine or any other antifungal medicine, the child should be monitored for signs of adverse reactions. If the child experiences yellowing of the skin or eyes, an allergic reaction can occur. If the child is sick with diarrhoea, severe skin rash or fever, or is unwell, get medical help immediately, as these symptoms may be signs of a more serious fungal infection. If Lamisil is used for fungal infections of the mouth, such as,, (, ), it will not be effective against lactosteroids such as terbinafine or other antifungal medicines used to treat fungal infections. Therefore, it is crucial that you read and seek medical help if you suspect an.
Use this medicine for only a prescribed duration, do not exceed the recommended dose or frequency, and do not use it more often, without consulting your doctor. If you use this medicine for fungal infections of the skin or nails, it may lead to more severe fungal infections.
